Deeply inspired by extended techniques developed by Helmut Lachenmann – I’ve used these techniques extensively, but with the intention to be played in an extremely exaggerated style. I wanted to combine this with delicate classical inspired passages fused to create an outlandish dialogue between two opposed caricatures.
These described personalities flow between foreground and background and in conversation with one another. It is the challenge of the piece to balance them equally. The madness of the piece resides in this balance.
